What to see in Valencia by day of the week: a grid of what opens and what closes

On Mondays almost everything related to the Fallas closes, and on Sunday afternoons too. A day-by-day grid of the Fallas museums and the City of Arts and Sciences, with prices that contradict each other between the official listing and the 2026 shop.

What to see in Valencia by day of the week: a grid of what opens and what closes

What you can see in Valencia depends on the day of the week, and no tourist guide organises it that way. Here is the grid: what opens, what closes, and where the official opening hours themselves contradict each other between 2023 and 2026.

What opens and what closes each day?

DayFallas MuseumGuild of Fallas Artists MuseumCity of Arts and Sciences
Mondayclosedopen, morning and afternoonopen
Tuesday to FridayTuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00, Sundays and public holidays 10:00 to 14:00, closed on Mondaysopen, morning and afternoonopen
Saturdayopen all dayMonday to Friday, 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00, Saturdays 10:00 to 13:30open
Sundaymornings only, until 14:00no hours published in its 2023 listing; Visit Valencia announces Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 19:00 in 2026open

The Sunday row for the Guild museum is the shakiest in the table: two sources three years apart say incompatible things, one that it doesn't open and the other that it does, afternoon included. No public notice explains the change, so phone ahead before planning your Sunday around that museum.

Do the prices match up any better?

Not always. Admission to the Guild museum has two rates published at the same time: €3 full price, €2 for under-12s and pensioners according to its 2023 listing, and €2 full price and €1 reduced according to Visit Valencia in 2026. The second is cheaper, which suggests a price revision with no public announcement to confirm it.

The Fallas Museum has its own contradiction, already set out in what to see in Valencia: €2 according to the guides, or €3 on weekdays and free on public holidays according to the city council document. Here a third piece is added, the City of Arts and Sciences, where the Oceanogràfic has two different prices for the same year, 2024.

Venue2024 price, source A2024 price, source B
Oceanogràfic€30.70 full price and €22.90 reduced (Aprendizaje Viajero)€40.50 full price and €30 reduced (Idealista)
Science Museum (Museu de les Ciències)€9 full price and €6.90 reduced (Idealista, 2024)
Hemisfèric€8.70 full price and €6.70 reduced (Idealista, 2024)

A difference of almost €10 at the Oceanogràfic in the same year isn't rounding. It may come down to season or sales channel, but neither source says so. In 2026, the multi-attraction packs in Visit Valencia's official shop range from €32.50 to €102.48, depending on how many tickets are included.

When two sources give two different prices for the same year, comparing before you buy costs less than trusting the first figure you see: tickets with free cancellation let you fix your plan without gambling on the price.

How do you plan a day around these opening hours?

The easiest day is a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday: all three venues open morning and afternoon with no restrictions. Saturday adds the catch that the Guild museum closes at 13:30. Sunday is the riskiest if your plan depends on the Guild museum, because of the contradiction in opening hours explained above.

A one-day itinerary combining the old town with these museums is set out in what to see in Valencia in one day, with timings for each stop in the historic centre. For three days, with more room to fit in both Fallas museums, see what to see in Valencia in 3 days.

Municipal museums, the Fallas Museum included, are free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, albeit with the shorter Sunday hours explained above. To stay close to these places and not lose time travelling, the neighbourhood comparison is in where to stay in Valencia.

Staying near the centre is what lets you spend the morning at the Museo Fallero and the afternoon at the City of Arts and Sciences on the same day: the journey between the two takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Compare central hotels for your next visit.

Frequently asked questions

What is closed on a Monday in Valencia?
The Fallas Museum and the Fine Arts Museum close on Mondays. The Museum of the Guild of Fallas Artists, according to its 2023 listing, opens Monday to Friday morning and afternoon, so that one does open on Mondays. The City of Arts and Sciences opens every day of the year.
Can you see anything Fallas-related on a Sunday afternoon?
Not much. The Fallas Museum closes at 14:00 on Sundays and public holidays, and the Guild museum has no Sunday hours in its 2023 listing, although Visit Valencia does announce afternoon opening that day in 2026. The two sources contradict each other and there is no way of knowing which applies today without phoning ahead.
How much does the Museum of the Guild of Fallas Artists cost?
According to its own 2023 listing, €3 full price. According to Visit Valencia in 2026, €2 full price and €1 reduced, with an extra 10% off with the Valencia Tourist Card. Both rates are still published side by side, with no update notice.
Does the Oceanogràfic cost the same in every guide?
No. For 2024, Aprendizaje Viajero gives €30.70 for a full-price ticket and Idealista gives €40.50 for the same year, almost €10 apart without either source explaining the change. Checking the day's price on the official website is the only way to avoid a surprise.
