Events in Valencia this weekend: how the listings work and what is free
There is no single official events listing for Valencia: you have to cross-check Visit Valencia, Find Events València and the local press. Here is the pattern that repeats every weekend, what is free and the Fallas restrictions.

Searching for events in Valencia this weekend doesn't lead to a single listing, but to three or four that half overlap. This page doesn't try to list the events of a particular weekend, because they change every week and a fixed page would show them out of date. It gives the pattern that repeats and what no listing warns you about.
Where can you find out what is really on?
Three sources cover different things, and none is complete on its own.
Visit Valencia focuses its listings on institutional culture and major events. Find Events València adds flea markets, fairs and lower-profile neighbourhood events. The local press rounds up a selection of free events each week, without claiming to be exhaustive.
| Source | What it covers well | What it tends to miss |
|---|---|---|
| Visit Valencia, institutional listings | museums, exhibitions, big concerts | small flea markets and last-minute events |
| Find Events València | flea markets, fairs, neighbourhood events | some commercial concerts sold through outside ticketing |
| Local press (Las Provincias, Valencia Extra) | weekly selection of free events | not exhaustive, changes criteria from week to week |
What happens every weekend?
Without being able to fix the exact programme for a future date, there is a stable pattern: municipal museums free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, neighbourhood markets such as the one at Tapinería or the Mercado de Colón, and the odd open day in a particular neighbourhood. Temporary exhibitions add occasional free entry within date windows you need to check each time.
What almost no listing publishes is how long each event actually lasts or how long you'll wait. A market billed for the morning can be packed by mid-morning and lose its appeal an hour later; a free exhibition can have limited capacity without the listing saying so.
A weekend of scattered free events leaves gaps that a well-placed hotel fills better than a long journey: staying in the centre lets you string together two or three events without relying on public transport. Compare hotels for your next weekend.

Everything. From 1 to 19 March, the listings stop being a list of separate events and revolve around the festival calendar, with the daily mascletà (the firecracker display) at 2pm as the pivot of the day. Traffic is stopped from roughly 11:45 to 14:30 for that mascletà, and the centre is closed to private traffic from around 15:00 on 16 March to around 4:00 on 20 March.
These are two restrictions of different scope, not a contradiction: the first is daily and only affects the area around Plaza del Ayuntamiento, while the second is wider and lasts several days in a row. No events listing mentions them alongside the programme, so check them separately before moving around the centre. The festival's full calendar is in the Fallas 2026 dates.
What can you do if there is nothing free that weekend?
The old town and the Turia Gardens are free every weekend of the year, with or without an events listing on top. They are the base to which you can add any one-off event that appears in the three sources above.
The full itinerary combining them with museums and the City of Arts and Sciences is in things to do in Valencia this weekend, and the entirely free version in free things to do in Valencia this weekend.
To get between neighbourhoods without depending on the events listings, getting around Valencia has the metro and bus timetables, including the special Fallas ones.

When the events listings are empty, the old town and the Turia are still free: the only thing that changes is where you sleep. A hotel less than 15 minutes' walk from the centre makes any last-minute plan doable. Compare accommodation for your dates.
