Working weekends in Valencia without missing the Fallas: which event fits each shift
This page isn't a jobs board. It is for people who work weekends in Valencia (afternoon and night shifts on Saturday, mornings on Sunday) and want to know which Fallas events fit into their free hours, with checked times and closures.

Many people searching for weekend work in Valencia are looking for a job, and this page doesn't offer one. It is written for the next step: you already have your weekend shifts, in a bar, a shop, a hotel or a factory, whether you grew up here or moved here from abroad, and the Fallas land right in your working hours. What fits into your free time, and how to get to your shift when the city is shut.
Weekend shifts in the province follow two patterns, according to 2025 job sites: afternoons and evenings on Friday and Saturday, and mornings on Sunday, with split shifts such as 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:00. Fallas events have fixed times. Cross-referencing the two tables is all this page does.
Which timed events fit which shift?
Times from the 2026 edition, the latest published. They change little from year to year, but the Junta Central Fallera, the body that runs the festival, only sets them in its programme, which for 2026 came out in December 2025.
| Event | Time (2026) | Fits if you work |
|---|---|---|
| Despertà wake-up bangers and the fallas in the streets | At 7:00 and 7:30 on the day of the Crida; other mornings, no fixed time | an afternoon or night shift |
| Mascletà, Plaza del Ayuntamiento | 2pm, from 1 to 19 March | an afternoon shift starting after 15:00, a night shift |
| Ofrenda, the flower offering | 17 and 18 March, from 15:30, several hours | a night shift; a morning shift ending at 14:00 |
| Cabalgata del Fuego, the fire parade | 19 March at 19:30 | a morning or split shift ending before then |
| Cremà of the children's fallas | 8pm on the 19th | a morning shift; a late night shift |
| Cremà of the big fallas | 10pm on the 19th | a morning shift, or an afternoon shift ending at 21:00 |
| Nit del Foc and fireworks | 11:59pm | a morning or afternoon shift |
| Verbenas, the street parties | Until 4:00 on the nights with the longest permits (2024 bylaw) | anyone not working on Sunday morning |
The quick reading: the night shift loses least, because most of the festival happens in daylight. The afternoon shift loses the Ofrenda but gains the mascletà. The Sunday morning shift loses almost all of Saturday night, but it is the only one that arrives rested at the Cremà on the 19th if it falls on a Sunday.
How much time does each event really take?
The time in the programme isn't the time it costs you. The mascletà lasts 5 to 7 minutes, but the square fills from 13:30 and takes 20 to 30 minutes to empty: allow 70 to 110 minutes. The guides recommend arriving 30 to 45 minutes early on weekdays and 60 to 90 minutes early at weekends.
With a shift starting at 15:00 in the centre, the full mascletà doesn't fit: at 14:07 you are in the middle of the square with tens of thousands of people leaving at once. What does fit is hearing it from a side street or from another neighbourhood, which is how working Valencians hear it.
The fallas in the streets, on the other hand, can be seen at any time. A neighbourhood falla takes 10 to 20 minutes; a Sección Especial one, 30 to 45, and from 16 to 19 March 2026 you could go inside the fenced area.
Convento Jerusalén is a 6 to 10 minute walk from the Estación del Norte; Plaza del Pilar, another 10 to 15; Na Jordana, another 15 to 20. A free hour between two split shifts is enough for one of the three.
What can you do on Sunday morning before your shift?
If your Sunday shift starts at 10:00, there is no morning. If it starts at midday, you have two hours, and the Fallas have a museum made for them. The Fallas Museum on Plaza de Monteolivete opens Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00, Sundays and public holidays 10:00 to 14:00, closed on Mondays; a visit takes 60 to 90 minutes, and municipal museums are free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays according to the 2026 guides.
Its weekday price has two versions for 2024: €2 full price and €1 reduced in the guides and €3 on weekdays and free on public holidays in the city council document; on Sunday, according to both, it is free. During Fallas it announces "special opening hours" it doesn't publish: phone ahead.
Until mid-March, the other option is the Ninot Exhibition in the Science Museum: in 2024, 2 February to 15 March, 10:00 to 20:00, and until 21:00 Friday to Sunday, for €3 full price and €1.50 reduced. At 10:00 sharp, no queue. At 12:00 on a Saturday, a queue.
How do you get to your shift when the city is shut?
This is the problem no Fallas listing solves, because they are written for people who aren't working. The metro closes central stations from roughly 12:30 to 14:30 on every mascletà day.
The railway station restricts access from 13:00 to 15:00, 13 to 19 March. Private traffic is banned in the centre from around 15:00 on 16 March to around 4:00 on 20 March.
A shift starting at 14:00 in Ciutat Vella means being inside before 12:30 or walking in from outside the cordon. For 2026 the EMT announced a 24-hour service on the main days, with around 3 million seats; the buses run, but on diversions, with no advance table of those diversions.
The blue parking zone is suspended from 9:00 on 9 March to 9:00 on 20 March, which doesn't mean there are spaces: the orange zone becomes residents-only around the clock.
The park-and-ride car parks at metro stations, with the free spaces Metrovalencia opens during Fallas, are in Valencia's park-and-ride car parks. The full ORA rules and the closure of the centre, in parking in Valencia. Lines and special timetables, in getting around Valencia.
What if your visitors need a bed?
People who work during Fallas often get visitors who do come for the festival. The nights of 17 to 19 March are the expensive ones: a three-star hotel goes from €60 to €100 in low season to €250 to €500 on those three nights, according to 2026 price ranges. In 2024 the average price of a stay during Fallas was €220, against €130 the rest of the year.
If people come to see you during Fallas, the right hotel is near your neighbourhood, not the centre: the verbenas go on until 4:00 in Ruzafa and El Carmen, and the nights of 17 to 19 March cost €250 to €500 in 2026, against €60 to €100 out of season. See what is left before the programme comes out.

The first free weekend after 19 March is the cheapest of the year in Valencia: the city has just emptied and three-star hotels are back to €60 to €100. It is the moment to be a tourist in your own city. Compare dates.

What isn't published?
Waiting times to get inside a Sección Especial falla: no figure, only the advice to spread them over several days. The total length of the Ofrenda: "from 15:30" and no end time.
EMT diversions street by street: announced on the day. The Fallas Museum's special opening hours during Fallas: announced, not detailed.
And the question you came with, if it was about jobs: weekend vacancies in the province run into the hundreds on 2025 job sites, with afternoon and evening hours on Saturday and mornings on Sunday. Pay, conditions and employers are not what this guide covers. The festival's events, explained one by one, are: see the Fallas festival in Valencia.
